It was a shock to all the boxing fraternity the sudden passing of Terry Lawless and Harry Carpenter. Terry spent quite a considerable time working with Frank and Frank was deeply saddened by the death of this great man, who not only help in the boxing career of Frank but also help the careers of Charlie Magri, Jim Watts, John H Stracey and Morris Hope.
Terry was also instrumental in the early stages of the career of Joe Calzaghe.
Although Frank was defeated by Mike Tyson in 1989, through the lead up to this fight Terry was seen by the press as a surrogate father for Frank and this really launched Franks career to win the affection of many non British sport fans despite the defeat.
Harry Carpenter and Frank were made for each other Frank said "Harry was my out of ring foil the best non sparring partner I could have" Harry loved Frank and as Frank's boxing career moved on so the banter in front of the camera became more entertaining. When Frank "rocked" Tyson on their first fight Harry forgot the BBC protocol and shouted "go on Frank" he genuinely wanted Frank to win. They worked together as a double act many times and although Frank has not seen Harry recently it was a real shock when David (Franks agent) broke the news to Frank on 22nd March.
